Time is money and in the competitive world of plumbing and it is best to keep one step ahead of the competition. Press is approximately three times quicker than traditional end feed brazing joints and with the additional need for no hot works on site; it has become – in a lot of cases – the must do process. As health and safety at work is paramount and there is no waiting time on site after the pipes are fitted an added benefit is that no hot works permits are needed. When soldering, there is also a real risk that carbon deposits or flux may be left as a by-product of the installation as well as possibly marking or scorching walls and surfaces. Press fittings offer peace of mind with some crimp guns offering a App and print out to testify the joints are sound. With traditional methods, there is also a risk that the fitting could be left incomplete if the installer cannot get the solder to flow correctly around the joint, resulting in leaks. As an example a 108mm press fitting takes 30 seconds to press!
